I like to take off my shoes whenever trekking through the sand dunes because it feels so soft, but also keeps my shoes from becoming weighted sand bags.

Death Valley can be extreme, so come prepared. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and maybe even a hat. The sand can get hot, so closed-toe shoes might be a good idea if you plan to explore a lot during the warmer months.
